Santosh Das was admitted to the Advanced Medical Research Institute (AMRI) Dec 1 after a head injury. He was recuperating from a surgery when the basement of the hospital’s annexe building caught fire early Friday morning.

Das’ brother and brother-in-law have been looking for him in various hospitals but in vain.

“His name figures neither in the list of the dead nor among those injured. He could also not be found at the morgue of the SSKM Hospital where the bodies of the victims post-autopsy were handed over to the families,” his brother said.

Das’ brother has been running from one hospital to another and meeting one official to another, but his search has not ended.
