Bhopal: Children enrolled in Madhya Pradesh’s ‘Anganwadi’ centres will now get ready-to-eat breakfast while vehicles used in the public distribution system will be tracked by global positioning system, an official said Tuesday.
The cabinet, at a meeeting chaired by Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, decided to provide ‘murmure’ (puffed rice) for children aged 3 to 6 in ‘Anganwadis’. The ‘murmure’ will be made available six days a week in a variety of flavours.
The cabinet also decided to double the honorarium of ‘Anganwadi’ workers and assistants. ‘Anganwadi’ workers will get Rs.3,000 per month instead of Rs.1,500 and assistants and sub-workers Rs.1,500 instead of Rs.750 per month.
There are 78,929 Anganwadi workers and a similar number of assistants working in the state.
The decision will cost state government Rs.22.39 crore.
The cabinet also decided to saris two saris every year to all the Anganwadi workers and assistants. For this, Rs.400 will be deposited in their bank accounts and the decision will put an additional burden of Rs.6.31 crore on the state government.
The cabinet also decided to install GPS devices on the vehicles transporting foodgrain, sugar and kerosene under the public distribution system. This will be installed on the license holders’ own or hired vehicles.
The cabinet also replaced the state-level advisory committee for rehabilitation and resettlement of oustees of major projects with a state-level empowered committee.
The committee will examine the existing rehabilitation and resettlement schemes and present its recommendations to the cabinet, the official said.
