“I don’t see any justification in discussing it at Jantar Mantar. I want the Lokpal Bill to be passed. It has to be passed in parliament,” Gogoi said on the sidelines of the FICCI Frames Media and Entertainment Business Conclave here.

However, he said, a social awareness had to be developed about the bill before it was passed. “It should not be like a one man’s dictatorship.”

He said the Food Security Bill was needed to ensure all poor people get at least a minimum amount of food.

“There should be a Food Security Bill as there are lot of poor people and the government should see that they get at least minimum food,” Gogoi said.

Anna Hazare had called on political parties to join a debate over a strong Lokpal bill at the Jantar Mantar Sunday when he kept a one-day fast.

Leaders of major political parties participated in the debate.
