Ranchi: Two years after the loser went to court challenging the electoral outcome in Hatia assembly in Jharkhand, the votes will be recounted Monday.

“All arrangements have been made for recounting,” Deputy Commissioner K.K. Soan told reporters here Sunday. This follows a Supreme Court directive.

Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) Ramjilal Sarda had cried foul after losing by just 25 votes to Gopalnath Sahdeo (Congress) in 2009.

He moved the Jharkhand High Court and then the Supreme Court seeking a recount of votes.

The Congress legislator died last year. If the recount goes against the BJP candidate, Hatia will go for by-election.
