Hyderabad: In yet another high-speed accident involving the son of a VIP, three engineering students, including the son of a former Andhra Pradesh minister, died on the outskirts of Hyderabad Tuesday evening.
According to police, another student was critically injured in the accident, which took place when their car hit the road divider.
The accident occurred at Kolluru in Ramchandrapuram on Outer Ring Road (ORR), about 30 km from the city, when the students of Chaitanya Bharathi Institute of Technology (CBIT) were going to Patancheru from CBIT at Narsangi.
The deceased include 19-year-old Pratik Reddy, son of former minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy. The others have been identified as Sujit Reddy and Chandra Reddy
Pratik Reddy, who was driving the Skoda car, reportedly lost control after he tried to avoid a buffalo. The speeding car hit the divider and turned turtle.
Pratik Reddy, the only son of Venkat Reddy, was a first year student at CBIT.
Venkat Reddy resigned as infrastructure minister in October this year to press the demand for separate statehood to Telangana region.
Venkat Reddy and his brother, Member of Parliament K. Rajagopala Reddy, who were away in Delhi, rushed back to Hyderabad. The last rites of Pratik Reddy will be performed Wednesday in his native Nalgonda district.
It was on ORR that former Indian captain and Moradabad MP Mohammed Azharuddin’s son Mohammed Ayazuddin and nephew were killed in September this year. Ayazuddin was riding a superbike at a very high speed, which hit the divider.
Last year, veteran Telugu actor Kota Srinivasa Rao’s son Kota Prasad died on ORR when his two-wheeler was hit by a truck.
