Pakistani woman shot dead for spurning fiance

Islamabad : A young woman was gunned down in Pakistan’s Punjab province as she refused to marry her fiance.

Anar Begum, 24, was shot dead by her fiance’s brother, said police.

She was betrothed to Mohammad Qaiser a few years ago, but when his family suggested marriage, she refused, reported the daily Dawn.

She was shot dead by Qaiser’s elder brother Ghulam Haider.

“It’s a heinous crime,” said police official Malik Kazim.
