New Delhi : The Election Commission has opened for the first time a 24-hour call centre to register poll-related complaints. The telephone number will be 1950, the year the election panel was born.
“Every poll going state shall have a complaint redressal mechanism based on website and call centre,” Chief Election Commissioner S.Y. Qureshi said while announcing the voting schedule for Goa, Manipur, Punjab, Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand.
The telephone number will be toll free. Complainants will get to know about the action taken on SMS and from the call centre.
