“We will create seven new health districts in the state. These health districts will be operational by 2012. One will be in Bankura, another will come up in South 24 Parganas and the remaining in other districts of the state. These districts will develop tremendously after these health districts are made,” she said.

“For mother and child care, we have already made six new neo-natal units across various hospitals across the state. We have also increased 3,500 hospital beds across the state,” she said.

Banerjee also announced that a number of new super specialty hospitals will come up in Bankura, Birbhum, South Dinajpur, Jalpaiguri, Malda, West Midnapore, East Midnapore, Murshidabad, Purulia and North Dinajpur districts.

She said that she will write to the central government for sanction of more urea fertiliser for the state’s farmers.

“We will write to the centre to give us the remaining urea allotted in the name of the state. I will write a letter to centre regarding this and will ask them to sanction more urea for state,” said Banerjee.
