Vice President to inaugurate two major events in Hyderabad

Hyderabad: After lot of speculations and ambiguity it is now confirmed that Vice-President of India Mr. Mohammad Hamid Ansari, will land in Hyderabad to inaugurate two major conferences, which the city is hosting on the same day; the world Urdu editors conference and international seminar on Islamic culture and art on December 30.

Vice-President will be received at the airport by Andhra Pradesh Governor ESL Narasimhan, Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy, former Mayor of Hyderabad Kartika Indra Reddy and Mr. Zahid Ali Khan, Editor of Siasat Urdu daily; the head of the organizing committee of the world Urdu editors conference.

The organizers of the world Urdu editor’s conference told that, all the preparations for the conference have been completed and the conference will start by 10:30 am at the Jubilee hall. According to the organizers this conference is held to highlight the role of Urdu news papers, and to bring into lime light the 160 years of Urdu media service intended at the promotion of Urdu language and culture.

The conference will have an exhibition displaying nearly 60 vintage Urdu news papers including Urdu daily ‘Dehli’ 1851, news paper Asafi 1887, Azad 1900, Dabdaba-e- Sikandari 1901, Al –Hilal 1931, Hamdard 1922, Rehbar-e- Deccan 1922, Hakheekhat 1923, Subah Deccan 1938. The conference will have many other activities related to Urdu journalism for the participants.

A three-day international seminar on Islamic Culture and Art is being organized by the Maulana Azad National Urdu University [MANUU] along with Institute of Objective Studies [IOS] New Delhi and Muslim Educational, Social and Cultural organization [MESC] Hyderabad.

Along with Vice-President Mohammad Hamid Ansari the Andhra Pradesh Governor ESL Narasimhan will be Guest of Honor and MANUU Vice-Chancellor and Member of the Planning Commission Syed Saiyidain Hameed will preside over the inaugural session, the seminar will start by 4:00 pm in the evening.

According to the organizers about 160 delegates from Kuwait, Yemen and Egypt will participate in the seminar. The seminar is being organized to discuss and share the research experiences of the cultural inter-connectedness of Islamic civilization in the context of Arabia, Persia, Central Asia, South-East Asia and India. The seminar will focus on the varied spheres of Islamic culture through different angles and the contribution of Muslims in different fields of life through ages.

Both these events were scheduled to be held on 26/27 November but due to the inconvenience expressed by the vice-president to attend these events on those days; the schedule was changed to 30th December.
