The government was under pressure to nab Yadav, who surrendered before a chief judicial magistrate’s court, as hundreds of junior doctors of six medical colleges and hospitals across the state went on an indefinite strike demanding his arrest.

It is estimated that over three dozen patients admitted at the six hospitals have died during the strike.

Trouble began Sunday night when three interns of the Anugrah Narain Magadh Medical College Hospital (ANMCH) in Gaya, about 100 km from here, were injured Sunday night when Yadav’s security guards fired at them after a scuffle over the treatment of a woman patient.

Police had arrested the two bodyguards. The Gaya police had issued an arrest warrant against the legislator Wednesday and raided his house.
