Andhra Muslim NGO presents cash award to talented students

Hyderabad: The Foundation For Economic And Educational Development (FEED) felicitated about 90 talented students with a cash prize of Rs 10,000 each on this past Republic Day fuction at its office in Secunderabad, the twin city of Andhra Pradesh capital. The felicitation was part of FEED’s Gems of the Nation project.

The NGO felicitated the students studying in Govt. Schools/Colleges who got 90% and above marks in their last annual examination and students studying in private collages/schools who secured 96% and above marks. In all 89 such students were conferred with the award of Gems of the Nation and were given a cash award of Rs.10,000/- each, in addition to a gift and a merit certificate. During the Independence Day Celebrations in August 2010, the 1st batch of 151 Gems of the Nation were felicitated. Out of the total of 240 students 31 were orphans.



The Trust is holding this felicitation function every year and encouraging students to get good marks and further excel in their education. The result of this effort is now visible clearly with the percentage of our scholars who got 90% and above is increasing year by year.



At the award function, Mr. Ghiasuddin Babukhan, Managing Trustee gave the details of activities of the Trust and said that the Talent Search Program through which the Trust is encouraging the top rankers of 8th, 9th and 10th class studying in Govt. Schools, is yielding good results. The scholarships being given to them are meant for coaching and to further improve their performance. He also informed that the Institute of Excellence coming up at Vikharabad will accommodate such students. He added that World Class facilities are planned in the Institute of Excellence to make these students the World Leaders of tomorrow, and not mere doctors or engineers.



Miss. Juliet Wurr, Public Affairs Officer – US Consulate, Hyderabad, the special guest of the function encouraged and motivated the students and advised them to go ahead with strong self confidence, which will pave way to achieve their goals.

Mr. Shaik Ahmed Khalil, Chairman Karnataka Zakat & Charitable Trust advised the students to develop self-confidence, and also to take part actively in Nation building and to prove themselves as a responsible citizen of this beloved Nation.
