Srinagar: The death toll in the accidental explosion in a Srinagar suburb Sunday rose to three as another child injured in the incident died Monday, police said.
Muskan, 4, succumbed to injuries in the hospital.
“With the death of the 4-year old Muskan, the toll in yesterday’s (Sunday) explosion in Malru village has risen to three,” a senior police officer said here.
Two siblings had died on the spot Sunday when they fiddled with an explosive device they had unsuspectingly taken home the village, 15 km from city centre Lal Chowk.
A 40-year old woman was among the three people injured in the incident and admitted to hospital for treatment.
Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has expressed grief and sorrow over the unfortunate incident.
The state government has sanctioned compensation of Rs.5 lakh for the next of kin of each victim.
