Kuala Lumpur : India’s Minister of Commerce and Industry, Anand Sharma, will visit Malaysia from Feb 17-19, 2011 to sign the Comprehensive Economic Cooperation Agreement (CECA).
In a statement today, the Indian High Commission in Malaysia said the signing ceremony on Feb 18 will be witnessed by Prime Minister Najib Tun Razak.
The CECA is a free-trade agreement which covers trade in goods and services and investment as well as economic cooperation.
Sharma will pay a courtesy call on Najib and hold bilateral meeting with counterpart, International Trade and Industry Minister Mustapa Mohamed.
He will meet officials of the Malaysia-India Business Council, led by Krishnan Tan and the Consortium of Indian Industries in Malaysia, led by Umang Sharma.
Sharma will be accompanied by a high-level business delegation led by B. Muthuraman, president of the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), who is also vice chairman of Tata Steel.
Other members of the delegation are Chandrajit Banerjee (CII director-general); Suneeta Reddy (chairperson, Aircel Cellular Ltd); Manish Singhal (executive director, Bharat Earth Movers Ltd); Debashis Sarkar (general manager of Coal India Ltd); P.S. Nair (chief executive officer — corporate (airports sector), Delhi International Airport); Deep Kapuria (chairman/managing director of Hi-Tech Gears Ltd); Ranganathan Venkata Sheshan (CEO of MAS GMR Aerospace Engineering Co Ltd); and, Dr Mukesh Aghi (CEO of Steria India Ltd).
The business delegation will pay a courtesy call on Mustapa and hold meetings with the Federation of Malaysian Manufacturers and the Malaysian Investment Development Authority.
