Lucknow: The District administration held a meeting on 15th Feb. to fine tune security arrangements in the wake of the upcoming traditional procession Juloos Madhe Sahaba on the occasion of Eid-e-Miladun Nabi on Wednesday (16th Feb).
The procession is taken by Sunni sect of Muslims to celebrate the birth anniversary of Prophet Mohammad. It is the only procession sanctioned to the Sunnis as per the tripartite agreement between them, Shias and district administration. The procession which comprises several Anjumans with their traditional flags originates from Aminabad and culminates at Aishbagh Eidgah. The procession has witnessed violent clashes in the past due to sensitive atmosphere in the old city of Lucknow.
“We have made elaborate security arrangements and the officials will be on duty from 8 am to 7 pm. The concerned departments as Lucknow Municipal Corporation (LMC), power corporation and Jal Sansthan too have been directed to complete all preparations for the procession,” said ADM City, OP Pathak.
Meanwhile, State Governor BL Joshi has conveyed his greetings on the occasion of Prophet Mohammad’s birthday on Wednesday. The governor in his greeting message has said that the teachings of Prophet Mohammad are still relevant for humanity, as a whole. His teachings mould the true values of the society, which should also be instrumental in bringing about social changes in a harmonious manner. The Chief Minister Mayawati too has extended her greetings to the people of state especially the Muslims. In her message, the CM has stated that Prophet Mohammad gave the teachings of love and humanity. She has also appealed for celebration of the occasion with peace and harmony.
In another development, some Muslim clerics have also urged the community to maintain calm and peace during the procession. Naib Imam, Aishbagh Eidgah, Maulana Khalid Rasheed Farangi Mahli, who leads the procession, has appealed to the anjumans to follow the conditions laid out in the agreement while taking out the procession.
