Srinagar : The strategic Srinagar-Jammu national highway was opened Monday for two-way traffic, but with restrictions, officials said.
“The highway has been opened for two-way traffic today (Monday), but with restrictions,” said G.M. Wadoo, superintendent of police traffic (Rural) here.
“Vehicles from Srinagar would be allowed to move towards Jammu up to 1 p.m. by which time these vehicles must cross the Jawahar Tunnel,” he added.
“From Jammu, the vehicles will be allowed to move after 1 p.m.,” he added.
The officer said the restrictions have been imposed to ensure that the vehicles move without any hassles and no jams occur on the highway.
The highway had remained closed for the last three days, although stranded vehicles had been cleared from the road during this period.
All the essential supplies to the Kashmir Valley are routed through this highway.
