New Delhi: The power of one was in full play on the first day of the year – 01.01.2011, a date flaunting a large number of 1s, which in the astro-science of numerology corresponds to the sun. And the sun in astrology symbolises power, fire, charting of new courses, independence and also leadership.

The year 2011 promises to be better than the year gone by, crystal gazers predict.

“The year will be smooth though people in general will have to work harder for success. Efforts will yield fruit by the end of the year when lady luck shines on the country. The financial sector will look up compared to the bleak state of global markets and businesses in 2008-2010,” astrologer, writer, pranic healer and vaastu consultant S.K. Goel told IANS.

“As the new year begins on a Saturday, Saturn will be on ascendant throughout the year. Legal issues will take precedence over civilian matters and judiciary will flex its muscles. Progress, though slow, will be lasting under the benevolent influence of Saturn. The country will not be rocked by major calamities or wars,” Goel predicted.

But the inflation cannot be brought under control easily, he said.

Lt.Col. Ajay Jain, CEO of astromoneyguru.com, said: “The year 2011 is represented by the planet moon.”

“The world stock markets may see new highs under the spell. The Indian stock market will perform better compared to Europe while the rupee and the yuan will be in the limelight,” Jain said.

According to astro-economics forecasts, India was “going to ring in revolution in the power, infrastructure, education, technology, health and the sports sectors”, Jain said.

“The five Indian states to benefit the most in 2011 are Rajasthan, West Bengal, Bihar, Gujarat and Tamil Nadu,” he said.

According to Chinese astrology, 2011 is the “Year of the Rabbit”. The rabbit represents the fourth year in the 12-year cycle of the Chinese zodiac.

The year of the rabbit is traditionally associated with home, family, artistic pursuits, diplomacy and peace.

According to the Chinese almanac, “2011 was likely to be a relatively calmer one than 2010 both on the world scene, as well as on the personal level”.

Conversely, nations would also become more insular and increasingly lock down their borders to protect against the “others”.
