Tehran province Governor Mortzea Tamadon told IRNA Tuesday that the arrested suspects belonged to a corrupted movement of Christian missionaries who planned a religious and cultural attack against Iran.

The governor gave no further details on the alleged movement or the number or identities of the people detained, but said that more missionaries would be arrested in the future.

Christianity, Judaism and Zoroastrianism are recognised and allowed to be practiced in Iran, but any Iranian Muslim converting is considered as apostate and will face the death sentence.
