Sana’a : Nine soldiers were killed after Al Qaeda gunmen ambushed military vehicles in southern Yemen Friday, security sources said.
The sources said the attackers fired with rocket-propelled grenades and assault rifles at the vehicles in the Um Eien area of the Loudar district in the southern Abyan province.
Two personnel carriers and a water tanker truck were burned, they said.
Loudar is one of Al Qaeda’s strongholds in southern Yemen, where the group has a strong presence.
