Gurbal Maninder Mann, 75, was found dead in her bungalow in a busy residential area here in Sector 21 Thursday. She lived alone in the house.

The police had initially suspected it to be a case of murder, with intent of robbery at the deceased’s house. They had also suspected the victim was sexually assaulted as some of her garments had been removed.

But the post-mortem report Friday said that it was natural death.

“According to the post-mortem report, it was natural death. She had died three-four days back,” a police officer said.

One of Mann’s daughters, Mohanmeet Khosla, is the chairperson of the School of Communication Studies at Panjab University here.

Many high-profile lawyers and VIPs, including Chandigarh’s Senior Superintendent of Police Naunihal Singh, visited the spot Thursday.
