The Royals took the lone Indian in Rahul Dravid on the opening day besides picking up Ross Taylor (New Zealand), Paul Collingwood (England) and Johan Botha (South Africa).

Kundra said that the management will try to pick a lot of young Indian players and even if they are not able to find the right combination by Sunday, they will consider state players competing in the Ranji Trophy final against Baroda Tuesday.

“Our franchise is about promoting Indian talent,” said Kundra.

“We are pleased with how the first day went. We will keep on looking for players after the auction. We will be closely following the performance of the Rajasthan players in the Ranji Trophy final and based on that we will take the call.”

The franchise, which won the inaugural edition in 2008, have already retained captain Shane Warne and fellow Australian Shane Watson for the fourth edition.

Earlier in the day, co-owner Shilpa Shetty expressed relief on the franchise being back in the IPL after a BCCI ban on them was lifted by the Bombay High Court last month.
