Aseemanand’s confession: Release innocent Muslim youths: SDPI

Bhopal: Following the confession of RSS activist Swami Aseemanand regarding involvement of Hindutva groups in terror blasts in the country, the Social Democratic Party of India (SDPI) has demanded the Central and state governments to immediately withdraw cases against the innocent Muslim youths implicated in those cases and release them forthwith.

SDPI also demanded fresh probe into all terror blasts. “Not only these four bomb blasts in Malegaon, Makkah Masjid (Hyderabad), Ajmer shrine and Samjhauta Express but all the blasts since 1992,” SDPI national president E. Abubacker and general secretary A. Sayeed made the demand in a joint press release on 9th January.

With the Swami Aseemanand’s revelation SDPI’s stand has been vindicated. The SDPI had all along been maintaining that there was an element of bias by the probing agencies in targeting the Muslims, especially the youth, while investigating the bomb blasts in Malegaon, Makkah Masjid (Hyderabad), Ajmer shrine and Samjhauta Express, SDPI leaders said.

In each of the cases Muslim youths were rounded up on mere suspicion and non-existent fictitious terror outfits having Muslim nomenclatures were blamed even before the serous investigations could take off in right earnest. The Muslim youths were later subjected to third degree tortures to extract confession and held endlessly thereby jeopardizing their careers. “However, it goes to the credit of these youth of having endured the brutal torture sessions and not succumbing to the nefarious designs of investigating agencies trying to propagate and strengthen the right-wing political parties’ agenda,” SDPI leaders’ statement read.

“The confession statement is proof enough for the role of RSS central leadership of being hand-in-glove in the bomb blast cases. The needle of suspicion pointing towards RSS ideologue Indresh Kumar, which has been strengthened by the confession of the Swami, and other such RSS activists should be put behind bars and questioned in a sustained manner so that the missing links of the “Hindutv terror” is revealed. The RSS ideology of polarizing the masses and injecting the poison of hatred in between Muslims and Hindus against each other can only be then exposed and thereby everlasting peace in society will prevail.

The duo also demanded to put the activities of RSS under scanner. A thorough watch should be kept on RSS “shakas” and their programmes from bottom to top throughout the country in the best interest of the society and nation at large, they added.

The release pointed out that the Congress has so far done little in fighting the RSS; its much-hyped legislation on communal harmony has been pending for the last few years and the action taken on Liberhan Commission report too has been unfulfilled. The Congress which has in its midst, leaders with a more tolerant approach towards the radical Hindu organizations has always fought shy of taking on others head on, deciding to go by the policy of live and let live.
