According to a Delhi Metro statement, the stretch – with stations at Mohan Estate, Tughlakabad and Badarpur – will mainly benefit commuters in southeast Delhi and the satellite town of Faridabad (Haryana), adjacent to Badarpur.

The inaugural run was conducted at 8 a.m. From Saturday, the Metro will run on the section 6 a.m. onwards.

With the opening of this stretch, the footfalls at the Central Secretariat-Badarpur corridor will increase to 2.25 lakh from the current 1.25 lakh.

“Four additional standard gauge trains with a peak hour frequency of four minutes will be pressed into service, thereby increasing the total number of trains to 20 for catering to the increased rush on the corridor,” the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation statement said.
