New Delhi: The Muslim youths of Malegaon behind the bars for the 2006 serial terror blasts in the Maharashtra town will soon breathe in free air. The hope brightened following confession of RSS pracharak and terror accused Swami Aseemanand got boost on 17th Jan when Union Home Minister P Chidambaram assured a state delegation of talking to CM for release of the innocents.
At the end of 30-minute meeting with Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leaders who had come to demand early release of and compensation for the incarcerated Muslim youths of Malegaon, Chidambaram said he will contact the concerned departments and talk to Maharashtra Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan to initiate for the release of Malegaon youths. Injustice will not be done with anyone, the minister assured
the delegation that was led by Tariq Anwar, Rajya Sabha Member from the state and General Secretary of NCP.
On September 8, 2006 serial bomb blasts took place near Hamidia Mosque and Bada Kabristan in Malegaon on the occasion of Shab-e-Barat. The blasts left 37 dead and more than 200 injured.
Following the incident Anti-Terrorism Squad of Maharashtra had arrested nine persons – Salman Farsi, Shabir Ahmed, Noorulhuda Doha, Rais Ahmed, Mohammed Ali, Asif Khan, Javed Sheikh, Dr Faroogue Ansari and Abrar Ahmed- for their alleged involvement in the blasts. The investigation agency and government turned deaf ear to the demand of the Muslim community to probe the case fairly, and not in a biased way.
However, last month RSS pracharak Aseemanand, arrested in connection with Mecca Masjid blast, confessed his role and involvement of other RSS men and outfits in various terror blasts in the country including both 2006 and 2008 blasts in Malegaon, and blasts at Mecca Masjid, Ajmer Dargah and Samjhauta Express.
In the wake of Aseemanand’s confession, the NCP delegation met Union Home Minister and demanded immediate release of the nine Muslim youths accused in 2006 Malegaon bomb blast and compensation to them for the loss of years, dignity, job/education and respect in the society.
The delegation also demanded ban on RSS and its sister organizations whose roles have been exposed in the Malegaon blast and other terror attacks. They also urged the Home Minister to form a special task force of Supreme Court or High Court Judge to investigate the bomb blasts occurred in Maharashtra since 1994 in specific time period.
He also reminded the investigation of slain ATS Chief Hemant Kerkare who mustered courage to expose the Hindu terror link in 2008 Malegaon bomb blast and other blasts that took place in different parts of the country.
The delegation warned that if the demands are not met, they will hold protest with the people of Malegaon and government will be fully responsible if anything wrong with law and order situation.
