Kohli, Yuvraj record best ever figures in Port Elizabeth

Port Elizabeth : Virat Kohli and Yuvraj Singh produced the best ever batting and bowling figures by an Indian at St. George’s Park in the fourth One-day International against South Africa.

Kohli’s brilliant unbeaten 87 off 92 balls is the best by an Indian batsman at Port Elizabeth. Mohammad Azharuddin had posted 57 against South Africa Feb 2, 1997.

South Africa (265 for seven) have recorded their highest total against India at St.George’s Park, Port Elizabeth, outstripping their previous 243 for eight Nov 29, 2006.

Yuvraj Singh (3/34) has become the first Indian bowler to capture three wickets in an innings at St.George’s Park, Port Elizabeth, outstripping the 2 for 34 by Robin Singh against South Africa Feb 1997.

Yuvraj’s aforesaid performance is his second best in South Africa – the best being the 4 for six runs against Namibia in the ICC Cricket World Cup at Pietermaritzburg Feb 23, 2003.

South Africa, with their fourth win in succession over India at St.George’s, Port Elizabeth, have posted their 17th win out of 26 ODIs at this venue.

India have lost all the five ODIs at St. George’s – four to South Africa and one to Kenya – all by huge margins.

Lonwabo Tsotsobe has been a consistent performer in the present series, claiming 4 for 31 at Durban, 4 for 22 at Johannesburg, 1 for 41 at Cape Town and 2 for 25 at St.George’s, taking his tally to eleven at 10.81 runs apiece, emulating Craig Matthews’ tally of eleven wickets in seven games at an average of 24.36 in 1992-93.

Jean-Paul Duminy (71 not out) has recorded his second highest innings against India – his best is 73 at Durban Jan 12, 2011.

Duminy has become the first batsman to aggregate 200 runs in the present series, amassing 209 in four innings at an average of 69.66, including three half-centuries.

Duminy has got his fifth Man of the Match award in ODIs.

Johan Botha (44) has registered his best innings against India – his second best in ODIs, next only to the 46 against Australia at Melbourne (Docklands) on Feb 3, 2006.

Robin Peterson (31) has recorded his highest innings against India – his second best in ODIs – the best is 36 against West Indies at Centurion Feb 1, 2004.

Botha and Duminy had shared a stand of 70 for the sixth wicket – South Africa’s highest against India in South Africa.

Harbhajan Singh (10-0-61-0) has produced his worst figures at St.George’s Park.

Hashim Amla (64 off 69 balls) has posted his third fifty against India – his twelfth in ODIs.

Amla’s brilliant knock is his second best against India – his highest is 87 at Ahmedabad Feb 27, 2010.

During the course of his splendid 64, Amla has completed his 2,000 runs in ODIs, amassing 2040 at an average of 56.66 in 41 matches. He is the 14th South African batsman to achieve the distinction.

Amla has completed 2,000 runs in 40 innings, which is a record for the quickest ODIs. Pakistan’s Zaheer Abbas and England’s Kevin Pietersen had taken 45 innings to reach the feat.

Virat Kohli (87 not out) has posted his highest innings against South Africa, eclipsing his 57 at Ahmedabad Feb 27, 2010.

Kohli’s run aggregate of 191 at an average of 63.66 is the highest for India in the current series. He is also the only Indian to post two fifties.
