New-Delhi: Following the Jammu and Kashmir government’s decision not to allow BJP’s Ekta Yatra to Srinagar, the Centre government has put over 3,000 CRPF men, which are currently under training for the purpose.
The Union home ministry has also kept a couple of thousand more paramilitary personnel at standby in Jammu and Udhampur to assist the police. It has been learnt that Centre was fully behind the state government’s decision not to allow the BJP to hoist the tricolor in Srinagar’s Lal Chowk.
The BJP’s Ekta Yatra, which was flagged off in Kolkata on January 12, will enter Jammu and Kashmir on January 24. The party has planned to take the Yatra till Srinagar to hoist the national flag at Lal Chowk. On 26 January, Jammu& Kashmir Liberation Front Yasin malik too had called a Lal-Chowk March.
Pertinently, Jammu & Kashmir Chief minister Omar Abdullah has already asked the BJP to stop the yarta.
