Islamabad : Pakistan’s Supreme Court Tuesday ordered the arrest of the director general of the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) after he was alleged to have protected an accused in a high-profile financial scam.
The court is hearing a scam worth more than Rs.5 billion in the National Insurance Corporation of Pakistan.
An FIA official appearing in the court said they were unable to arrest an accused Amin Dada because FIA chief Waseem Ahmad was accompanying him when the raid took place.
Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry said that “this is public money and we can’t allow this loot and plunder where high and mighty connive to protect each other”.
