New Delhi : After Mumbai Indians, suspended Indian Premier League (IPL) chairman Lalit Modi questioned the last-minute changes made to the January 8-9 players’ auction in Bangalore.
“The changing of players auction order as pointed by some franchisees is an issue which I highlighted when I saw the rules changed last minute. The order changing – should not have been allowed – as it gives advantage to teams that knew of it before,” Modi wrote on social networking site Twitter.
Nikhil Meswani, executive director of Reliance Industries, in a letter to the IPL Governing Council asked why was the auction was changed from “selection of sets at random” to pre-decided “order of auction list” for the January 8-9 players auction, and said there was “no justification” for the last-minute change. The franchises were informed about the last minute change by the Governing Council Jan 7, just a day before the auction.
Modi asked the Governing Council to look into the last-minute change.
“Some key players were put into second day. Why? Take a guess? Me raising these issues will off course get old guard rallied up against me and I am sure more warrants will be issued by their cronies in Chennai,” he wrote.
