Shedding light on the mission of the NGO, its general secretary, Saiful Islam said, “We want this to be an initiative, different from the usual commercialization of social work. At present, we are focused on educating those children who are marginalized so that they can be brought in the mainstream of education.”

Aasma and her colleague Rabab Imam have left their job to devote full time for PLEA.

There will also be a coaching center and classes for spoken English under the banner of Hikmah Study Point. In these classes students from marginalized section, either with access to the local school or without, will be equipped to learn tools of communication and aspects of modern education they don’t get in the normal government schools. It will prepare them for the jobs which will empower them financially.

The NGO has been primarily started from Shaheen Bagh, a south-eastern locality of Delhi, and will be expanded to the interiors of Bihar and Uttar Pradesh. Sounding over the future plan of the organization, Aasma Fayaz, program officer, said: “We are committed to expand our activities in Bihar by the end of this year and start at least three centers in different districts of the state.”

Speaking on this occasion, Naiyarul Islam said: “I am personally very impressed with this effort. What makes this organization special is that it has been started by the young blood of the society who have the potential to bring change in the society and country at large.”
