Ranchi : Jharkhand’s ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Saturday said there was no deal with its coalition partner Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) on handing over power to it.
“There was no deal when the government was formed under (Chief Minister) Arjun Munda in September last year,” state BJP president Dineshanand Goswami told reporters here.
After Jamshedpur Lok Sabha by-poll results were announced earlier this month, JMM chief Shibu Soren said that there would be change of guard in the state after 28 months of the government’s formation.
Land and Revenue Minister and JMM leader Mathura Mahto too claimed that there was an understanding with the BJP that Munda will hand over the chief minister’s chair to the JMM after 28 months of formation of the government.
The BJP lost the Jamshedpur seat to Jharkhand Vikas Morcha-Prajatantrik (JVM-P). The seat was vacated by Chief Minister Arjun Munda after he was elected to the state assembly in February.
