New Delhi: The government Thursday accepted Solicitor General Gopal Subramanium’s resignation, official sources said.
“The government has accepted the resignation (of the solicitor general),” the sources said.
Subramanium, the second senior-most law officer of the government, offered to quit Saturday after feeling upset over union Communications Minister Kapil Sibal substituting him with senior counsel Rohinton Nariman in the 2G scam case.
He told reporters Sunday that he had quit to protect the “dignity of the office”. “I feel it was unfair,” Subramanium said about the appointment of Nariman by Sibal.
