New Delhi : Commerce and Industry Minister Anand Sharma Thursday asked state governments to gear up to benefit from the national manufacturing policy which is likely to be finalised soon.
“The policy is inevitable now and states should be ready to benefit from it,” Sharma said after meeting a delegation of the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) here.
He said the states like Rajasthan, Maharashtra and Gujarat were already gearing up to benefit from the proposed national manufacturing and investment zones.
The federal government is in the process of finalising a national policy on manufacturing that would help create almost 100 million additional jobs by 2025.
A high-level committee on manufacturing, headed by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, last month cleared the draft of the national manufacturing policy.
