Mufassal Moidu was arrested by the Interpol from Dubai for using a fake passport. He was then brought to Kerala last Thursday and the police have reportedly registered case against him related to fake passport. There have also been reports of suspected terror links, but could not be reportedly found in the interrogation of the ISIT and the IB. Mufassal has been remanded to five days’ police custody for more interrogation.

The mentioned CI is reportedly in Dubai on a five-year leave from service. Mufassal had helped the Dubai police to catch hold of a sex racket, which had connections with the CI, according to reports. The police had rescued more than 40 women in the incident. This led to arrests of more sex rackets and illegal beverage-selling gangs, which in turn brought several enemies for Mufassal. When the terror cases came up, the CI tried to trap him in such cases, Mufassal reportedly told the police during interrogation. He also added that several other Keralites also in Dubai, who were caught by the police with his help, must have joined the conspiracy to project him as terrorist.

Mufassal had informed the police during interrogation that there were two attempts on his life from Dubai. The police also found that his house in Kasargod was attacked four times.

Two more persons have been arrested so far in the case. They are brothers Riyas and Noufal, who helped Mufassal make a fake passport, creating fake documents such as ration card with an address in Tirur, signature of Tirur Taluk Supply Officer, Identity Card, signature of Taluk Electoral Office and SSLC Book. Mufassal, native of Kasargod, reached Dubai without any passport and then made a fake passport in the name Muthassal Thaslim of Tirur in 2008, for an amount of Rs 35,000. Riyas and Noufal were running a travel agency in Malappuram and Kozhikode, and the police have reportedly raided their offices.

Meanwhile, reports suggest that Mufassal’s name in the police records, jail and FIR is still the fake name Muthassal Thaslim.
