Bhopal: The Social Democratic Party of India (SDPI) has vehemently deplored the role of Maharashtra Police in particular and the investigating agencies in general vis-à-vis the recent three bomb blasts in Mumbai. Condemning the death of Faiz Usmani, who died in police custody after being detained for suspected links with the July 13 bomb attacks, SDPI has demanded CBI inquiry into the death of Usmani and severest punishment to the erring police officials.
The SDPI national president Mr. E. Aboobacker in decried the alleged pressure tactics employed by police along with torture to elicit information from Usmani which resulted in his tragic death. The police have maintained that Usmani died due to brain hemorrhage owing to hypertension as he was off medication for the past few days but his family has charged that he died because he was tortured by police. They alleged that Usmani had no history of hypertension and was not on any medication.
He lamented that despite it being known that many affiliates of Sangh Parivar in the past have been found to be involved in bomb blasts in Malegaon, Makkah Masjid, Ajmer Dargah and Samjhauta Express the investigating agencies have turned a blind eye to them and turned the needle of suspicion towards Muslim community.
“Having learnt no lessons in neutrality, objectivity and professionalism in their work these agencies instead of following all leads, the Mumbai blast is being probed on dotted lines. It is disgusting to note that investigating agencies are interrogating several Muslims already in jail for months and years in connection with some earlier terror blasts like Ahmadabad and Delhi. Not only this, their friends and family members are being picked for interrogation: he added. ([email protected])
