Patna : The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) Thursday began a probe into police firing in which four people were killed in Bihar last month, an official said.
A pregnant woman and a six-month-old infant were among those killed and nine people were injured June 3 at Bhajanpura village in Araria, 350 km from here, when villagers were protesting an upcoming factory.
“A four-member NHRC team visited the village and began the investigation,” a district official said.
The commission last month decided to investigate the police firing following huge protests by the opposition and rights bodies.
