Varsha picks up third title in National billiards and snooker

Chennai : Bangalore schoolgirl Varsha Sanjeev won her third title in the ongoing National billiards and snooker championship when she beat Keerath Bhandaal from Delhi 127-97 in the junior girls billiards final here Friday.

Varsha, the 15-year old from Sophia’s High School, had earlier won the sub-junior girls billiards and snooker crowns and Friday, she staged a come-from-behind victory against Keerath who squandered a 52-48 lead after 10 visits.

Varsha, who is quick around the table, posted breaks of 14, 12 and 15 to surge ahead and nursed the lead to the finish.

The event received only nine entries of whom three pulled out.

Quarter-finals: I Lahari (AP) bt Saniya Arif (Chd) 70-66. Semi-finals: Varsha Sanjeev (Kar) bt I Lahari (AP) 110-92; Keerath Bhandaal (Del) bt Arya Pimpale (Mah) 115-65. For 3-4 positions: Lahari bt Pimpale 125-86.
