“While five women were arrested at the Barakhamba station, four were held at Central Secretariat station, seven were picked up from Rajiv Chowk station and five were held from Ramakrishna Paramahamsa station,” said Rohit Katiyar, spokesperson for the CISF which is responsible for Metro security.

“We arrested these women from four different Metro stations in the capital during a special drive launched today,” added Katiyar.

“The pickpockets used to target women passengers. They used to board the Metro with kids so that they did not raise suspicion. They used to take help of these children in diverting the attention of victims and stole passengers’ purses and other valuables.” he added.

“We sent our women constables as normal passengers and apprehended the culprits when they made an attempt to steal valuables from them,” added Katiyar.

Of the 21 women pickpockets, 14 were arrested earlier also. The CISF officials had photographs of some of the arrested women.
