New Delhi : The Delhi government Monday decided to remove derogatory words from certificates issued to the Scheduled Castes and the Scheduled Tribes.
“There were some derogatory words used in forms about the people belonging to the Scheduled Castes and the Scheduled Tribes. We have come to know about this and we have decided to remove the words from the certificates issued to these people,” said Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit.
“We will write to the home ministry that we are going to omit these words from these certificates,” added Dikshit.
Hundreds of people belonging to the Valmiki community protested last week at Rajghat against the use of derogatory words in their caste certificates.
