Chandigarh : Three private hospitals have been debarred from participating in the Punjab government-run Bhai Ghanhya Sehat Sewa scheme, a spokesman of the chief minister’s office said here Wednesday.
The hospitals were supposed to provide cashless healthcare facilities to poor people. They have been charged with violating the terms and conditions of the scheme between Feb 1, 2010, to Jan 31, 2011.
The decision to ban the three hospitals was taken at a meeting of the Bhai Ghanhya Trust, chaired by Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal, held to review the functioning of the scheme and hospitals.
The hospitals are: Guru Nanak Multi-speciality Hospital and M.S. Memorial Hospital in Gurdaspur, and Sri Guru Harkrishan Charitable Hospital, Mohali.
Nearly 124,000 families have been covered under the scheme, under which indoor treatment up to Rs.150,000 for hospitalisation exceeding 24 hours is made available on cashless basis in approved hospitals.
