Amar Singh, along with actress-turned-politician Jaya Prada, reached Himachal Pradesh’s Kangra district and both performed a special night-long ritual that continued till early Thursday in the popular temple of goddess Maa Baglamukhi.

It’s believed that Maa Baglamukhi is worshipped to immobilise the evil forces and to keep the enemies at the bay. Amar Singh has been facing allegations of bribing three Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MPs to save the Congress-led central government during the 2008 trust vote.

He and Jaya Prada reached the Gaggal airport near Kangra Wednesday evening. They met renowned palmist Pandit Lekhraj Sharma in his residence in Jogindernagar town in Mandi district.

Prem Parshad Pandit, member secretary of Himachal temples, told IANS that special mystical rituals are performed to invoke Maa Baglamukhi during midnight.

Maa Baglamukhi is considered the eighth manifestation of Lord Vishnu. One of the busiest shrines in north India, a majority of the pilgrims, especially politicians, go there from Punjab, Haryana and New Delhi.

Former union minister Sukh Ram is also a follower of Maa Baglamukhi.
