Lucknow : Social activists and people from various walks of life Saturday extended their support to yoga guru Baba Ramdev’s fast against corruption and black money by staging peaceful demonstrations here.
Members of various social outfits are going to the Jhulelal Park to stage a sit-in from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. They said they will obvserve the sit-in every day till Ramdev continues with his mass hunger strike in the capital’s Ramlila Ground.
“People from various age groups are approaching us to extend their support for the series of peaceful demonstrations that we have started from today (Saturday),” Tarunendra Srivastava, associated with Bharat Swabhiman Trust, an NGO, told reporters here.
Activists of India Against Corruption (IAC), the forum through which social worker Anna Hazare launched his anti-corruption campaign, too decided to join the demonstrations being carried out at the Jhulelal Park.
“I think every Indian who wants to fight against corruption must come forward to support Ramdev’s campaign. The citizens of the country must realise that it’s high-time to get united for waging a war against corruption,” Akhilesh Saxena, a social activist associated with IAC, told reporters.
A group of former corporators and members of Lucknow Vyapar Mandal have also decided to assemble at the Jhulelal Park for the cause.
