Thachenkery was suspended last April by then chief minister V.S. Achuthanandan for violating service rules when he went on a trip to the Middle East without taking government sanction.

An NIA probe was ordered against him after reports surfaced that he met people with dubious track record while on his visit to the Middle East.

Thachenkery said he has been given a clean chit by the NIA.

“They have made it clear that they have never asked for my suspension nor have they objected to my reinstatement. I have already put up a request to the chief secretary and have asked for my reinstatement. At the moment, there is no FIR against me nor is there any inquiry,” Thachenkery told IANS.
