Congress women’s wing gets new chief

New Delhi: Congress president Sonia Gandhi Tuesday appointed Anita Verma as the new head of the Mahila Congress, the party’s women’s wing, a party statement said.

Verma, a former Congress secretary and former legislator in Himachal Pradesh, replaces Prabha Thakur.

Meanwhile, Niranjan Patnaik will be the party’s new Orissa unit chief. Patnaik is a former state minister.
