Srinagar : A police constable was gunned down by separatist guerrillas in Jammu and Kashmir’s Sopore town Wednesday morning, police said.
According to police, the guerrillas escaped after firing at the constable near the local college in north Kashmir’s Sopore town, 54 km from here, in Baramulla district.
“Constable Manzoor Ahmad died even before he could be taken to hospital for treatment,” a police officer said.
No guerrilla group has yet taken responsibility for the killing.
A trader from the same town was gunned down by suspected guerrillas in the heart of capital Srinagar Monday.
