Bangalore: The Congress Sunday attacked yoga guru Baba Ramdev as a “dhongi (fake)” and sought an explanation on how he acquired Rs.1,100 crore to run his trusts.
“He is a ‘dhongi baba’ and he should tell people from where he got Rs.1,100 crore wealth,” Congress general secretary B.K. Hariprasad said while speaking to reporters here.
“Before demanding that black money be brought back and distributed among the people, he should distribute his wealth of Rs.1,100 crore to the people,” the Congress leader said on the margins of a function.
Ramdev Sunday broke his nine-day fast against corruption and for bringing back black money stashed abroad.
Hariprasad also criticized civil society members of the Lokpal bill joint drafting committee and said “some of them have to explain their source of income”.
The five civil society members of the 10-member drafting panel are social activists Anna Hazare and Arvind Kejriwal, lawyers Shanti Bhushan and his son Prashant, and Karnataka Lokayukta (ombudsman) N. Santosh Hegde, a retired judge of the Supreme Court.
Hariprasad attacked Hegde and questioned “why has he not probed corruption charges against Yeddyurappa (Karnataka Chief Minister B.S. Yeddyurappa of the Bharatiya Janata Party).”
