The General People’s Committee, or the Libyan government, asserted Libya’s commitment to all proposals of the initiative and would positively cooperate in this regard, the state-run Jana new agency reported Monday.

The government also decided to set up a working team to implement all items of the initiative.

The African Union (AU) has been spearheading a plan to pave the way for a ceasefire in Libya, but it did not feature Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi’s exit.

Libya’s rebels have asserted any deal to defuse Libya’s crisis should include the departure of Gaddafi first.

Since February, Libya has been torn apart by a civil war between rebels in the western region and security forces of the long-reigning Muammar Gadaffi.
