Tumkur (Karnataka) : The Congress Wednesday launched a state-wide campaign in Karnataka to mobilize people against the “corrupt” Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government headed by B.S. Yeddyurappa.
The campaign ‘Congress march to reach the people’ will be held in all the 224 assembly constituencies simultaneously for two months. The party plans to conduct 10,901 public meetings during the period.
The main function to launch the campaign was held at Kora village in Tumkur district, about 70 km from Bangalore. Tumkur is the hometown of state Congress president G. Parameshwara.
Besides Parameshwara, several state party leaders and party in-charge and Congress general secretary Madhusudan Mistry were present.
Mistry, Parameshwara, leader of opposition in the assembly Siddaramaiah and others lashed out at the Yeddyurappa government for “reducing Karnataka from a model state to number one corrupt state in the country”.
They mocked at the BJP’s attack on the Congress-led United Progressive Alliance government in New Delhi over corruption while “remaining silent on corruption in the party’s government in Karnataka”.
