“I totally support the journalists’ demand for a CBI probe in the killing of Dey,” V.P. Patil, who has filed a public interest litigation (PIL), told IANS.

“The matter is slated for hearing tomorrow (Thursday) before the division bench of Justice Ranjana Desai and Justice R.V. More,” he added.

Patil also sought special protection for journalists who received threats or who were investigating the mafia.

“It has been five days since Dey was shot dead by unidentified murderers, but neither the police nor the government have any clue,” Patil told the court.

Dey was gunned down by four motorcycle borne assailants near his home in Mumbai’s northeastern suburb Powai Saturday afternoon, sending shockwaves through media circles across the country.
