New Delhi: Ending speculation about his political moves, BJP leader Gopinath Munde Wednesday said he was not leaving the party.
Munde’s statement came after he met Sushma Swaraj, leader of the opposition in the Lok Sabha, here.
“I am in the BJP and will be in the BJP in future,” Munde, flanked by Swaraj, told reporters.
Political circles had been agog with speculation that Munde, a former deputy chief minister of Maharashtra, may join the Congress. He had apparently been upset over being sidelined by party’s national president Nitin Gadkari, who also hails from the state.
The flashpoint came when Munde’s candidate for the party’s Pune city presidentship was rejected by Gadkari.
Munde said he had been “conveying his and followers’s pain” to the leadership. “I am in talks with the leadership over my pain,” he added.
Swaraj said the “pain” of Munde cannot be publicised and added that party leaders are in talks with him.
