Patna: A couple of days after family members of the Forbesganj police firing victims met Congress president Sonia Gandhi in New Delhi, the national ruling party sent a team of party leaders to the affected Bhajanpur village in Araria district on behalf of the Congress president. The team met the victim families in the village on 23rd June and distributed relief checks among them.
Led by Bihar Congress in-charge and Congress Working Committee permanent invitee Gulchain Singh Charak and state Congress president Chaudhary Mehboob Ali Qaiser, the Congress team sent by Sonia gave a check of Rs one lakh to each of the four families who lost their dear ones while a check of Rs 10,000 was given to each of the nine injured or their families.
Other members of the team were: Congress leader in the state assembly Sadanand Singh, Congress leader Dr Shakil Ahmed Khan, former MP Kirpanand Yadav, Araria Zila Parishad chief Shagufta Azim and local Congress leaders Owais Yaseen and Abid Hussain Ansari.
