Islamabad: Pakistan Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani Tuesday asked Interior Minister Rehman Malik to strengthen intelligence gathering to improve the security situation in the country.
Gilani asked Malik, who called on him at the prime minister’s office, to make a coordinated effort with all provincial governments, the Online news agency reported.
The prime minister told the interior minister that necessary steps must be taken to enhance the “counter-militancy effectiveness” of the law enforcement agencies.
Capacity building and training of the agencies was essential to upgrade the security of the country, he said.
